South Africa: Mandela Remembrance Walk and Run returns

After a year's absence due to Covid-19, the Mandela Remembrance Walk and Run is back. The event is held every 5th December in South Africa, in honor of Nelson Mandela who passed away on 5th December.

To honor the South African icon, 1000 runners will be present. The organizers say that they will simply take the first 1,000 to register. However, they will all have to be vaccinated against Covid.

The Mandela Remembrance Walk and Run has a special feature. Runners from all over the world can participate virtually. You just have to choose your distance and run the race. Participants have to pay to run or walk. It depends on the distance. 3.5 euros for 10km or 21km but virtually. And 8.5 euros for international runners from the rest of the world (all distances combined). The proceeds will go to the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
