Super-sub Ajara Nchout's first goal in Italy inspires Inter Milan win

Njoya opens account for Inter

Cameroon international Ajara Nchout scored her first goal for Inter Milan as they pipped AS Roma 1-0 in an Italian Serie A women tie on Saturday.

The Indomitable Lionesses forward came off the bench to make her second league appearance and delivered a fine performance to help the Racers return to winning ways at Stadio Ernesto Breda.

Rita Guarino’s ladies endured a frustrating start to the encounter but could not profit from their several chances in the drab first half.

After botched scoring attempts, the Cameroonian international Nchout was introduced into the game, replacing Tiatana Bonetti, and made her presence felt when she sealed her side’s late victory.

The forward made no mistake in sending goalkeeper Camelia Ceasar to the wrong side of the goal, five minutes from time, thanks to Elisa Polli's assist.

The win ensured Inter leapfrogged Roma to fourth position with 12 points after six matches and Roma are placed fifth with two points fewer.

After Saturday's victory over Roma, Inter have managed four wins this season, drawing one matches and losing one as well. They are six points adift of leaders Sassuolo and the Uefa Women's Champions League places.

Nchout will hope to continue her impressive performances when her side slug it out against champions Juventus in their next league game on October 30.

Before then, the striker, who makes a return after missing the 2021 Aisha Buhari Cup will team up with her national side for the showdown with Central African Republic in the race for the 2022 Africa Women's Cup of Nations. The Lionesses meet their foes in Duoala for the first leg on October 17 before the second leg six days later in Yaounde.
